The Story

Overview

The QualiFMVSS™ 302 is a specialized piece of equipment put together to check how well the materials inside a car can fight off a fire. It is an essential tool for any manufacturer needing to run a compliant FMVSS 302 test.

During a check, a piece of material is held firmly in a U-shaped frame and put flat inside the testing area. A 38 mm flame is applied for 15 seconds while the machine keeps track of how fast and how far the fire travels to figure out the burn speed.

Features & Benefits

  • Built for Durability: The main box is made from tough, 2mm thick stainless steel, so it holds its shape and won't get bent during a burn check.

  • Clear Observation: Comes with a strong glass window, so the person running the test can see everything happening inside very clearly.

  • Standardized Airflow: The box has the correct ventilation holes and slots to keep air moving through, which is critical for a valid FMVSS 302 test.

  • Precise Flame Control: A Bunsen burner and a very exact valve let you set the flame height to the perfect 38 mm needed for the check.

  • Automated and Safe: A catch tray at the bottom collects any melted bits, and the timer starts on its own as soon as you slide the sample holder in.
