The Texture Profile Analyzer – QualiTEXA™-Pro is a high-precision texture profile analyzer developed to deliver accurate, quantitative measurement of mechanical and structural properties across food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, packaging, and industrial materials. It applies controlled forces including compression, tension, shear, and bending to transform material response into consistent, objective, and repeatable data.

Featuring a high-resolution load cell, fully programmable motion control, and advanced data acquisition software, the QualiTEXA™-Pro supports comprehensive Texture Profile Analysis (TPA) along with single-cycle and time-dependent testing methods. Theory and Method (Texture Profile Parameters)

The Texture Profile Analyzer – QualiTEXA™-Pro determines material behavior by applying controlled mechanical deformation through a probe while continuously recording force and displacement. The generated force–time or force–distance curves are then analyzed to extract key texture parameters that closely align with human sensory perception.

Key Texture Profile Analysis (TPA) Parameters:

  • Hardness – Peak force during the first compression, indicating resistance to deformation
  • Fracturability – Force at which the sample structure breaks under compression
  • Adhesiveness – Negative force area during probe withdrawal, representing surface stickiness
  • Springiness – Ability of a sample to return to its original shape between compressions
  • Cohesiveness – Extent to which a material maintains its structure during repeated deformation
  • Gumminess – Energy required to break down semi-solid materials, derived from hardness and cohesiveness
  • Chewiness – Energy required to chew solid materials, calculated as:

Chewiness=Hardness×Cohesiveness×Springiness

  • Resilience – Speed and degree of recovery after deformation during the first compression cycle

The QualiTEXA™-Pro supports full two-cycle (two-bite) TPA testing, closely replicating mastication behavior to generate consistent, reliable, and repeatable texture data for advanced analysis.
